Established 1993
Bill was introduced to the rodeo / bull riding world after a cattle branding at his grandmother's house at the age of seven. He was talked into riding his first calf that day. The instructions were, "Hold on tight". He was infatuated with bull riding from that moment on.
After graduating from high school in 1980, Bill joined the US Navy, serving our great country and being honorably discharged in 1989. He started bull riding while in the navy, meeting many new friends and enjoying life, and just loved riding bulls! He took the bull by the horns, literally, and became a bullfighter / rodeo clown as well. In 1993, Bill reluctantly hung up his bull riding spurs to establish Betoney Designs. Though it anguished him to stop bull riding, the rodeos, and traveling - a new life was born and he continued the rodeo lifestlye outside the arena. He loves what he does today and it shows in his craft - and he is home with his family enjoying life, and not having to "hold on tight" anymore.
Bill continues to illustrate and create for all who ask for his services. He's not only tied to rodeo-based designs. He's illustrated creations for all sports, family reunions, fraternity events, sorority events, and "white-tie" events. The diversity is there for imprinting t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, and any other imprintable textile for your special event. He has designed logos for companies - large and small.
The Betoney family is blessed with artists starting from the matriarch, his grandmother. She weaved rugs by hand, using natural colors derived from the landscape of her home-land. His father is in the turquoise and silver jewelry business. His mother and father create some of the most exquisite Navajo jewelry around! Three generations of artists and growing as new family members/artists are developing their skills in the extended Betoney family.
